I had killed five when i saw the man who was the this nests gunner pull something of his chest. HE pulled something off it. It was a grenade. He had pulled the pin. He threw it off the side of the building. I knew the explosion would knock me off the building. I lept off the side and back onto the roof jus6t as it went off. The explosion shook the building to its core. I sat up hardly able to hear. The man was gone. A small fire had started on the side of the building. The smell of burning flesh was choking the air away. I sat not moving trying to catch a glimps of where he went. Then i saw it. I saw a shadow moving behind me thanks to the fire. I rolled forward. I felt the wind of something fly past as i did. I turned as i finished rolling. There the man stood like a black knight from medievil times. Black swat type cloths with a black mask. He would be hard to see from the streets below. In his hands he held a machete. He looked as though he knew how to use it. He stodd side ways making himself as small of a target as possible. The he came at me with incredible speed. He held his weapon with the blade pointed down. I jumped to the left as he got close enough to strike. He swung the blade in an upwards arc. I was fast but he was faster. The blade split my side open. I roled across the ground and onto my knees. The blood was warm against my side. I raised my gun at him adn fired. I missed by a long shot.
"You missed." He said.
'I know that voice' I said to myself."No i didnt." I said with a smile.
He quickly looked behind him to see the dead mauler that lay buit feet from him.
"Holy shit." He said as he began to turn his head back. I had already moved. As he looked back towards me i hit him. Right across the face. His blade landed a few feet away. The hit had spun his mask around competly. He crashed to the ground in a heap of himself. As he started to stand i saw a red blotch form where his mouth would be. He pulled of his mask and spit blood. I knew this man.
"MIKE!" I yelled,
"Your dead you bastard. What are you some kind of clone!?" He yelled back.
"No. Im me!"
"I saw you get bit. YOu should be one of them."
"Well im not. A few days after i last saw you guys i was picked up by the miltary. They gave me a supposed cure. I dont know if it was real but before they gave it to me they told me that i wasent affected by the virus. That it was there but no affect."
"THEY HAVE A CURE!?" Mike shouted
"LIke i said i dont know if it was a working one."
"WHy are you not still with them?"
"The base was over run." I stated
"It was that monster wasent it!? The big thing fucking wolf right?"
"F bomb huh? How do you know that thing?"
"It comes every once in a while. Takes people. KIll em. We dontknow how to stop it."
"I know what you mean. I shot it point blank in the face and it didnt slow the thing."
" We used half of our explosives on it and all it did was singe some fur and give it a few small cuts."
"Wow. Hey. Did you guys ever make it to hell?"
"No. We made it here and when we went to leave reports came in of it being over run."
"So your all here!?" I said starteled
"Ya. Been here two weeks now."
"All still alive?"
"Ya. We are in charge of main security beacuse of what we did back on that day when you...." Mike said fading off.
"Oh hell ya." I said with a smile.
"We need to get you to the main hall. Until night fall when its safe."
"When night fall hits im leaving."
"WAHT!? WHY!?" Mike yelled.
"Beacuse. I rescued two kids from the base as i left. They are both out side of town in hiding. I Left them beacuse the sun was coing up and they wouldnt have been able to keep up with me and then theyd be dead. So i have to go back."
"Im going too. Ive got a jeep we can take."
"A car Mike?"
"Ya. We have like 20 working ones."
"Even better."
"Plus i can get kevin to stand watch at the enterence to the town so he can hit anything that trys to follow us back in."
I nodded.
"I need sleep." I said
"I cant leave my post till dusk. Sleep till then. Ill wake you when we can move out."
I nodded and lay against the ground. As i lay there looking up at the clouds i felt something land on my gut. I jumped.
"Its bandages. For when i got ya eariler."
I nodded once more and patched myself up. After i laid back down. After no more then a mintue i was out.

So i made revisions.

Mike woke me up.
"I woke you up late. Its already dusk and Kevin and the car are waiting. Come on."
I nodded and he helped me up. HE walked over to the side of the building and began to climb down. I turned and walked to the other side. I looked down to see what had remind of our fight eariler. It was onl a charred hallish metal coffin for the monsters that were caught on or below it when the grenade went off. They smell of charred flesh was powerful. I gaged and left those remnets. I joined Mike on the climb down. It wasnet had to climb down using the windows but it was long. THe entire climb took about twenty mintues in all. When we got down we were greeted by Kevin.
"Hello Zack. Good to see you not dead." Kevin said.
"Ya you too?" I said weridly.
Thats when i saw Mikes car. It was an H1 Hummer.
"Mike i thought you said yi=ou ha a jeep!"
"Ya. Well see i made it too look like a jeep. Notice no roof."
"Eh." I sadi as i climbed in the driver seat.
"What the hell are you doing? My car. I found it. I fixed her up. Put gas in it. Painted it. Everything. What makes you think your gonna drive!?" Mike said.
"You have no idea where the kids are."
"Well.... um....Damn you Zack." Mike said as he climed into the passenger side. Kevin climbed in back and we took off. As we drove i saw people walking the streets.
"Mike why are people out?" I asked.
"Well we have a two block perimater so that the people arint stuck in town hall all day. They can go out and live some what. See the maulers leave at night to head for the feilds for some reason. SO with the perimater they can have some fun with out danger. We have alarms all over so that if a large number of maulers gets close we set the alarm and the people head back inside. Each of the gun nests have a alarm. And each security member has one two. So its safe. For tonight we have set up a two block perimater beacuse theres a chance that maulers might follow us back to the city. Zack your heading to the enterance you used to get into the city right?"
"Yeah why?"
"Good. I told a few extra security members to go there with weapons ready in case the gun nests and Kevin arint enough." Mike finished as i pulled up to the cemetary.
Kevin got out and went into the building where the gunner sat at and hit me from.
"Now. You have to under stand what kind of risk we are about to take for you Zack."
"What do you mena we?"
"My men and I. Doing this could put the town in danger. Im saying this beacuse i cant let you take risks in this. All we do is get there, Grab them, and then leave. Got it?"
"Ya." I said with a smile.
Mike smiled back. But it didnt last long. I hit the gas and the car took off like a bullet. Our head flew back into the seats.I heard Mike scream but i didnt slow. The place where I hid the kids came into view mintues later. And thats when the headlights caught it. That monster. It was there. It had broken away a huge section of the rock.
"Zack we cant take that thing. Weve got to run. Now." Mike wispered. The monster hadent even noticed the head lights.
"No." I said as i hit the gas harder. We hit the thing doing sixty miles an hour. It smashed the front and and took out the wind wheild but sent it flying a good fourty yards. I got out and pushed the remnet of the rock out of the way. Samatha and Tim were okay. They didnt even talk. They just got out and climbed into the truck.
"MIKE LETS GO!" I yelled as i headed for the drivers seat. I looked and saw the beast with one of its claws trough Mikes right shoulder and Mike machete in that thing s gut. I raised my gun and shot it dead center in the spinal cord. It turned and sprinted at me. I shot its eye but the bullet hardly even cut. It was too late to move now so i did the only thing i could. As it tried to bite me i stuck the barrle in its mouth and pulled the trigger. The thing stopped as if it were dead. But then it bite down. I pulled back as it did. I was left with the hadn grip to my gun. It back handed me back into a tree. CLaws coming at me.

I ducked at the last moment. I felt the claws pass through my hair. I rolled to the right as it brought its claws done. I stood but only to be hit back again.
"DAMNIT! WHY AM I THE ONE THAT HAS TO FIGHT THE BIG BEAST SO OTHER CAN ESCAPE! KINDA MAKES ME MAD!" I said with a chuckle. I kept dodgeign the monsters attackes for the most part but got hit now and again. I mead Mike laughing over the kids screaming from terror.
"Fine ZACK! If you dont want to do it then move!" I saw Mike throw his machete into the monsters back. It rocked back and howled. Mike reached down and grabbed something. Then he held it out. The glem of the barrel could have been seen in pitich black. The grips were oak. The entire gun was beatiful. Mike smiled and fired the 357. magnum into the monsters face. The beast fell back a few feet. It turned and ran at him as Mike fired the next five rounds. The machete had fallen from the beasts back. I grabbed it and ran after the beast.Mike couldnt move. He had no where to. Adn when the last round left the barrle of the gun....Three claws entered his gut. I knew he was dead before he hit the ground. I jumped into the air as the monster turned towards me. It launched both hands at me. I had the machete held up side down. I( felt one claw scrape my gut annd another sink into my left lower leg. But i didnt stop. I brought the machete down through its head. Its mouth ws opened in a snarl as i did. I felt it sink through its head and out the other side. I fell to the ground next to Mike. It just stood there. Then it looked at me. I could see the blade in its open mouth. It let out a wimper of pain the tried to pull it put. I grabbed mikes body and drug it to the car . I laid him in tyhe passerger seat before hobbleing to the drivers seat. As i pulled away i saw the beast pull the machete out.
"Shit." I said as i floored it. "HOLD ON BACK THERE!"
Maulers were in the feild now. They started to move as we drove by. Suddenly the radio kicked to life. It was Nate.
"NATE!" I yelled as i grabbed it.
"Good to hear you Zack. Listen we are here with Kevin. For security. Are any following you?"
"Im sorry to say yes."
"How many?"
"Lots. That... That monsters coming too....Its.....ITs....it killed mike...." I said as tears rolled down my eyes.
I heard an alarm go off up ahead. Then i heard a fainter one. I couldnt think of where it was coming from. Then io looked at the car. The check engine light was on.
"Oh god damnit. Whats next." I said asi looked to my right. The monster was running parallel to use.
"I knew it. Just knew it."

Back at the securtiy point.
"Kevin cn you see them?" Nate asked as he looked around. Kevin held his slingshot out checking places.
"Yes." He said. Then he did something he had never done before. Instead of shooting out he turned and shot Nate in the foot. Before he could scream Kevin took the rifle from Nate s back and started to aim. As he locke donto the beasts head, he fired.

The shyot toppled the beast giving us some ground. But it didnt saty down for long. Within thirty seconds it was on us again. I swerved sideways to ram it. Didnt work. I jumped into the air and almost landed on us when another shot went off. The shot knocked him away from the roof. He didnt get up until we were inside town. Maulers were following us like crazy. Hundred were behind us and as i got closer to the guns i saw a small army on the roof tops. I ripped through the cemetary as the guns started blazeing. I had hardly gotten into town when that beast landed in front of us. I turned the car side ways and hit it. It flew back as i tried to start the car. Nothing would work.

"You two OUT OF THE CAR! Take Mike and GO!" I yelled as i hopped out of the car.

The beast swung at my head. I ducked and rolled forward. There was no way to stop this thing. It was going to kill me at this rate. Suddenly i heard a sound. The ground next to the beast blew up. On of the soilders had shot a rpg at it. The ground gave way beneath the monster and it fell through the ground. I started to smile. I never noticed the ground cracking near my feet.

I was expecting a huge drop but it was only eight feet or so. I dropped but didn’t see the monster. I could hear him but couldn’t see him. MY muscles tightened as I heard it growl. I closed my eyes and listened to see if I could hear but the bullets flying overhead and the small echo in this cave made it impossible to pin point where that thing was. Light from the sky allowed me some vision but only a 3 foot diameter. Suddenly a bad fell to the ground next to me. I flinched thinking it was the beast attacking. I opened the zipper , and to my surprise found guns. Two Colt 1911’s and a Red 9 Broom handle Maser. At least five clips for each gun. A pair of side holsters for the Colts and a small holster for the Red 9 the hung from my back. I loaded them all and placed them in there holsters.
“Come on beastie.” I said in a low tone. I drew both Colts and stood ready. He was right in front of me. I rolled to the left as he came at me, and began to open fire. It took three shots to the head before it figured out where I had went. It reared its head back in an attempt to roar. I took my chance and sprinted at it. When I was with in a few feet, just as it was about to let out a thunderous roar up into the sky, I shot it in the throat. It dropped to its knees and I jumped. Landing on its head I jumped again. I easily cleared the rim of our graveled tomb and landed on the street. I ran up the street before turning. The beast was just jumping out of the ground. I aimed and fired. Five rounds finished both clips. I dropped them both and grabbed new ones. I slammed them both in as the creature reached me. I went to fire but was smacked back. I rolled across the ground , dropping both the colts. I tried to stand but was hit away again. I landed on my feet but it knocked out my legs as I landed. I picked me up and threw me back again. I stood slowly. My head hurt terribly.
“You..” I said pointing at the beast.
“I.. don’t care any more. You need to die. You HAVE to die. I don’t care if you’re an unstoppable killing machine. I don’t care if you immortal. Hell I don’t care if you’re my little brother reincarnated. YOU. HAVE. TO. DIE.” I pulled the Red 9 and readied myself once more. Raising the gun until the sights were directly on its head.
“Now die.” I spoke as I pulled the trigger. Its head rocked back but it quickly came back forward and charged me. I dropped to my knees and shot out both its knees. It fell on its face. As it tried to stand I walked over and grabbed one of the Colts. As it put its hand down to try and stand, I shot its wrist. He tried again but by rocking itself backwards. It landed on its butt. Even sitting the beast as a foot taller then me. I moved quickly to it and stood on its severed leg. As it howled in pain I put both barrels in its mouth.
“I thought I told you to DIE!” I said as I pulled both triggers. The beast fell dead.
“Over. Finally…Shit.” I said as I heard the moans. The maulers had broken through the blockade. I grabbed the other Colt and ran to them. As I ran I fired. Eleven fell. I quickly reloaded and started firing again. They had spotted me and were running at me. Just as we were about to run into each other they started falling. Down the hole. With in seconds they had all fallen down. From down the street I heard some one yell “GRENADE!” so I turned and ran. The explosion rocked the ground beneath my feet and I stumbled. I turned around expecting to see more Maulers coming through the gate but there were none. I spotted Mike wit the kids. I ran over.
“Mike?”
“….Oh. Hey man. Waz up?” He said softly.
“Not much. Beasties dead.”
“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious man. Brought him down hard I hope?”
“Few bullets directly to the brain.”
“Nice man. Keep kicking ass….”
“Mike. You Son of a bitich…” I said as I fell to my knees.
Mike was dead. As the tears started to roll I heard a scream.
“Stay here!” I told the kids as I took off. I knew where the scream had come from. So had every one else. We were all sprinting non stop to the security house as I knew it. Where every one stayed during the day to be safe. I rounded the corner first. And there it was. The people. Our people. Dying. Being ripped apart. I looked to my right and saw what looked to be Mikes Machete. I smiled as I picked it up. Its was almost like a sign. This was Mikes home and he had died before he could defend it. I would help him defend. As I ran forward I heard people yelling stop and the such but they had to know I wouldn’t. Colt in my left and Machete in my right I started through the crowed. Swinging at anything that hissed at me. After I shot six maulers with one Colt I switched to another. I moved towards town hall, hope in that people were alive inside. I stabbed a mauler that was about to kill small child as I shot one that was after an old man. I dropped to my knees as I turned around, the machete horizontal cutting a mauler in half. As his top half fell past I shot two more using his still standing legs to stabilize my hand. My entire body was shaking with fear and hate. I wanted to know how these things started. Who would make a creature like this. WHOS IDEA WAS IT! I kicked the last one out of my way as I saw the town hall. I couldn’t look inside. To much blood was pouring out of it. I turned and puked. I turned and placed my gun on the forehead of another mauler.
“DON’T!” Yelled Nate. “Come one. We need to leave. You know it. You know we cant fight all of them.”
“Does it matter. These things just keep coming. They wont DIE! Each time they kill us they grow stronger!”
“ I know. But we still have to leave. To keep fighting.”:
I nodded slowly as a truck pulled up and we got in.

We drove for an hour before I fell asleep in the car. MY mind raced even as I slept. Dreams of Mikes death and of what I witnessed played over and over in my head. The Zen mans death played in there too. His final words in there . The quickly became nightmares as I started to become one of the maulers. I tried to fight it but in the end I lost. I saw through their eyes before I woke up.

The sky was pitch black. Wind lapsed against my numbed face. I rubbed them to get some feeling back. The only thing I could see clearly was the head lights panning across the road in front of us. MY eyes were still adjusting to the darkness. I squinted to see my surroundings better. I didn’t know the driver but I knew Nate was in the back seat. The driver saw me awake and nodded. His eyes were pale. I heard a pop that sounded as if it was far off. The windshield cracked and the car jerked to the left. We hit a parked car and I rocked forward and hit the dashboard with my head. I felt warm blood trickle down as I started to climb out of the car. Four men are already on us. As I step out of the car my own knees buckle for what just happened and I start to fall. The first man takes this chance and rushes me. He throws a punch down at my head. I roll to the left and punch his knee. It buckles and he comes to my level. As he does I kick him across the face sending him sprawling to the ground. I stand slowly, ignoring my spinning head. Darkness over takes me and I fall back to the ground. I force my self to stand and I draw one of my colts. I turn to the four men. They raise their guns. I shoot both of the men on the outside. The other two are still cocking their weapons when I shot them out of there hands. I went to shoot them when Nate grabbed my barrel.
“YOU CANT JUST SHOOT THEM!” He yelled.
“They shot him .” I said as I nodded towards the dead drive.
Nate swore under his breath. I let go of the gun and ran forward. I swung both arms bringing them down with a single punch each. The skin of my knuckles broke as it slid across there faces. I picked them both up and smashed their heads together. I stood them apart. The could hardly stand I stood them just out of arms reach on either side of my. I drew the colt and Red 9 and pointed one at each of them, I spoke calmly.
“As of right now I am your judge and jury. If you are found guilty I will also be executioner. Now why should you live. You are scum that lowers every living thing on this planet. Why should I let you live. You shot and innocent man. WHY!”
“Because we just needed the car but we knew you wouldn’t let us have it.”
“And you couldn’t have just asked for a ride!” I yelled as the one that responded.
“THIS ISNT RIGHT ZACK!” Nate yelled.
His voice caught me off guard. The guy to my left Took this chance to try for my gun. I squeezed both triggers in unison.
