A S.H.I.E.L.D. medical room. Mary-Jane opens her eyes. She sits up abruptly. She is on her own.
MJ: Oh, my God - H -Hello?
Small chunks of red fur are lying around. She slowly gets off the table she was lying on.
MJ: Hello? Is there anybody here?
She walks down a corridor. There are several locked doors down the side. There are labels on them. One says 'Osborn, Norman' and another says.... 'Stacy, Gwen'. MJ covers her gasps and puts her hand to her mouth.
MJ: Oh. Oh no. That's not - Oh my God!
Another says 'Osborn, Harry' A voice comes from behing her.
BRANKIN: Ms. Watson?
MJ: No! Get away from me!
She starts to run off but her arm starts shaking. She clutches it and falls to her knees.
MJ: What have you done to me?
BRANKIN: Don't worry. My name's Eamonn Brankin. We were just running some tests on you. Now I suggest you sit down. This may be quite a shock to you. We don't want another incident again now, do we?
In a small, run-down apartment. Wilson Fisk walks in, followed by Bullseye, mask off but still in uniform.
BULLSEYE: You live here?
KINGPIN: I did. It's rent-controlled, I found a way to get it back.
BULLSEYE: So you're operating from in here now?
KINGPIN: For now. But I'll be needing some more body. Send the message out to New York's Underworld.... Wilson Fisk is back.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Later: In a lab. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, Peter and Nick Fury are there.
REED: Later, we'll need to run some tests on you. MJ, however....
SUE: We're gonna have to keep her here. We, uh, we don't know when she can come back. The Oz is developing faster than we thought it would. Until we can find a possible way to halt her body from processing it, she'll be safe in a containment centre we designed specifically for cases like this.
JOHNNY: Hang in there, bro.
He slaps Peter on the back as he walks out with Nick Fury.
BEN: Johnny, what is th matter with y -
The doors shut.
FURY: You gonna be OK?
SPIDEY: I'm fine.
FURY: It's not your fault.
SPIDEY: Uh-huh.
He jumps out of the Helicarrier exit and leaps away into the night.
Later: At Peter's. He is on the phone to MJ's mother.
PETER: Uh, yeah, hey. It's Peter. MJ was just wondering if she could stay over at my place for the week. Uh-huh. No, she - Yes, we do. Yes. OK! Great. I'll tell her that. Thanks.
He hangs up and sighes. Aunt May walks in.
MAY: So you told her, huh?
PETER: I said she was staying for the week.
May laughs and sits down.
MAY: That's exactly what Ben would have done. Oh, kiddo, you can't beat yourself up about this. All this medical mumbo-jumbo.... it doesn't mean anything. MJ will be fine. And it's not your fault.
PETER: There's just one thing I'm wondering; why do Harry and Harry's dad and MJ all become crazy elf-people and I'm a spider-man? Why do I get the good one?
MAY: Hey, you know it's just what the man upstairs wanted. It's all part of his big plan, huh?
PETER: I don't.... *sigh* I'm going to sleep.
MAY: Okay, okay.... but hey. No funny business, okay?
PETER: I promise.
He goes upstairs.
Minutes later: He is swinging through the dark streets. There is a siren sound.
SPIDEY: Hup.
He swins over to where the sound is coming from.
SPIDEY: Hellooo? Hellooo? I heard a cop in trouble here? So, you know, come on out so I can save you and stuff? Helloooo?
The siren sounds again and he sees a light flashing. He jumps over to the light.
SPIDEY: Don't worry, I won't -
It bis just a flashing siren light stapped to the roof of a building. He stares at it.
SPIDEY: Uh - huh.
Suddenly a figure leaps at him and rugby-tackles him down to the ground. The fugure gets up and we see it's Daredevil.
DAREDEVIL: Spiderman! You're in grave, grave, danger!
Oh, BTW, you know I said someone's house blows up/ You'll have to wait till issue three to see that actually! _________________ PROUD MEMBER OF THE ULTIMATE MARVELS!!!!
