If you haven't, I HIGHLY reccomend all of them. Best book series I've ever written. I can almost guarantee that if you love Marvel Comics, you'll love the Dark Tower book series. It's the same kinda fantasy thing, with an entire world made from scratch that's all interconnected. And there's tons of action!

Kevin, I really think you would like them. While the first one is kind of slow going, it's really short, and the rest of the series is just like a roller coaster ride, man.

I read most of the first one but all of the rest of my knowledge come from my dad telling me about them as he read through them.

I really wanna buy this series and I have a few questions, Bobby:

1) How many of them are there?

2) The whole story connects, like a "To Be Continued" type thing?

3) Stephen King wrote them right?

4) Is the story done? No more are coming out?

5) What are the names of them all?

6) What is it mainly about?

Thanks!

1) There are seven books total. I: The Gunslinger II: The Drawing Of The Three III: The Wastelands IV: Wizard And Glass V: Wolves Of The Calla VI: Song of Susannah VII: The Dark Tower

2) The whole saga is one story, and many consider them one book, split into 7 parts, because they all flow right into each other.

3) Yes.

4.) The Dark Tower series is completed, it ended in the seventh volume. The comic series goes back and explores the character's pasts, and explores stories that were hinted at, but not told in the novels.

5.) See question 1.

6.) Roland lives in a universe seperate from our own. He used to be a resident of a great kingdom called Gilead, and a member of an elite group called Gunslingers. Gunslingers were the most powerful people in the world, trained amazingly well in the art of combat with pistols.

But gradually his world started to fall apart, or as he calls it, it "moved on." The kingdom fell, and all of his friends were killed in a war. He is now the last Gunslinger.

The world moving on is attributed to the Dark Tower, a place in the center of his world that is the center of all universes anywhere. The Dark Tower will soon fall, and if that happens, all universes will cease to exist. Roland is on a quest to find the Dark Tower, and find a way to save it, even though no one quite knows what is there.

In book 1, he chases the "man in black" to get information on the Dark Tower. Book 2 has him find his 3 companions on his journey, both from our world. Roland can travel through worlds through doors he finds, but he cannot make them. One leads him to Eddie, a streetwise New York City coke-addict from present time. The next leads him to a past New York City, where he meets a black lady with multiple personalities who is confined to a wheelchair, and one of her personalities is deadly.

Book 3 follows their continued journey, and has them find the last member of their ka-tet (read the book and you'll know what that means), a young boy named Jake. This is my favorite of the books.

In Book 4 Roland tells them a story of his past, when he met the love of his life. After that, they move on to the palace of the Crimson King.

In Book 5 they come across a town who suffers a plague of wolves who come to their town every so often and steal some of their children, and when they return them they're retarded.

In Book 6, Susannah is lost in our world, and Roland and the rest must find her.

In Book 7, it's their last leg to the Dark Tower. I can't tell you any more than that.

What's amazing about it is that EVERYTHING in their world is connected. Every little thing means something, and he constructs an entire universe. They have their own words and customs, but many things are extraordinarily similar to our world. Half the fun is being in this world that has been created.

Trust me, read them. You won't be disappointed.

The quote is actually "The man in black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed." But close enough. Wink

Excellent quote, and perfect way to start the series. I hear it's the first line of the comic series too.

And I too, will never forget it.
