I'm slightly dissapointed...
So many holes opened up and all the answers are in the continuing comic books. I expected more from Mark Millar.
I hope Ultimates 2 doesn't come out the same. |

My uncle flipped when my dad told him!! He was so heartbroken...

YEAH! I am not dissapointed at all! What a series! The biggest shockers ever! Cap arrested? Incredible! But it makes sense, because Cap could never go against the American people! He finally realized he was wrong! I wanted him to win, but c'mon! Even Captain America can't defeat the law!

I liked the series....
But I HATED the fact that to get the full effect, you had to read a billion other comic series every other month. Like, Civil War was just the bare bones of it, but to truly understand it, you had to read every other series out. And now, with this Initiative thing, there's even more series to read to understand what's happening...
But I liked the core series. I didn't read any of the tie-ins.

The issue opens with everyone kicking each other's asses. Apperently, the Pro side was just going to lock Anti up and end of story. But Black Panther remembers the 69 digit code and overrides S.H.I.E.L.D.'s systems and reroutes the bridge to the Baxter Building instead of the N-Zone. Maria Hill yells at the agent to close Reed's portal. As an alternative, Dagger advises Cloak to teleport everyone and so Panther sends Cloak the coordinates. Cloak opposes the idea because it's too dangerous but Dagger commands him to and so he does. It then looks like Cloak is absorbing everyone into his cloak.
Then outside the Baxter Building we see a humongous cloak and a crapload of superheroes being dumped. Cap tells his aerial troops to grab a friend before landing onto the pavement. Wonder Man punches Cloak for ruining the plan. Human Torch tries to sneak up on Iron Man but Stark knock him out with a punch. In the street policemen are trying theirt best to protect civilian's lives.
The battle escalates further. Spidey single-handly beats up Bishop, Doc Samson, Radioactive Man, Blizzard and in the most incredible fashion kicks Mr. Fantastic. Iron Man's number one priorty is to take out Cap but can't find him. Deathstryke, Venom, Bullseye, and Taskmaster all gang up on Cap, whose getting his ass handed to him. He then smiles and we see that Namor and an army of Atlanteans entering the battle.
She-Hulk notes that with Namor Anti, it's hopeless to which Iron Man disagrees and points out that they aren't the only ones with surprises. Clor, Captain Marvel and other miscellaneous heroes are shown in the fray.
Cap and Iron Man confront (for the fourth time) and behind Tony we see Vision poppong his head. Iron Man reminds Cap of the earlier fight. Vision's tangeant hand goes through Iron Man spine and overrides the suit. Cap smashes Iron Man with his shield.
Clor notices Iron Man's in trouble and gets punched by Hercules. A sliding bus is then abrubtly stopped. Invisble Woman is surprised to see Thing back from France. He ignores the battle and protects the civilians. Taskmaster aims his gun at Sue but Reed takes all the brunt force. Sue gets angry and smashes Taskmaster with an invisible shield.
A pissed off Hercules tells the clone that Thor was a friend of his and that he is an imposter while he reaches down to pick up Clor's hammer. He raises the hammer in the air and smashes the living hell out of the clone's skull and the freaking hammer!
Cap is shown smacking Iron Man with his shield and breaking the mask. He pauses and is tackled by civilians. Cap tells the dudes that he doesn't want to hurt them and the dudes think he's joking and that it's too late for apologies. Cap drops his shield and begins to cry. "They're right. We're not fighting for the people anymore, Falcon... Look at us. We're just fighting.
He walks forward and both Torch and Spidey tell that they're winning. "Everything except the argument. And they're not arresting Captain America... They're arresting Steve Rogers. That's a very different thing." He takes off his mask and walks toward two policemen and gestures his hand to them. They cuff Cap and take him away.
Later, Punisher is shown picking up Cap's mask.
Reed is then narrating his letter to Sue. He says that after cleaning up he tried to talk to her but hesitated. He mentions that the Anti side was given an amnesty after Cap surrendering, The Initiative and that every state will have a team. New heroes and teams are shown. The N-Zone's still active and still detaining criminals. Apperantly in Canada there have been heroes that have fled the US and the New Omega Flight is shown shaking hands with an important looking male. Also, a portion of Cap's followers are still underground and we see Luke Cage digging Spidey's symbiote suit. We see Steve Rogers sitting on his bed in prison. On the cover of Time magazine are Yellow Jacket and Black Panther shaking hands. Tony is given a new job from the president. Reed swears that there won't be clones nor traps. Whatever he acheives means nothing to him if Sue isn't there with him. He turns around and sees Sue with briefcases.
Tony and Miriam Sharpe are then shown in a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. The new job that Reed mentioned was director of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Tony tells Sharpe that it makes sense because he has link to both the government and superhuman community. He asks Maria Hill for coffee to which she glares at him.
During the conversation, Tony reveals the real reason why the prison was called Number Forty-Two. It was only the forty-second idea out of one hundred. Forty-Three was S.H.I.E.L.D. cleaning up the mess. He then says that he will guard the heroes' identities. Miriam compliments Tony by saying that he is a good man to which Tony promises the best is yet to come. |
