Ultimate-Comic-Geek-Tom Productions Present…

‘Impervious’ Issue 3 – ‘Power Practice’.
‘Origin of Impervious’ part 3 of 4.

“First vee must evaluate you to discover how vell the process vorked” stated Ruben Weisenfield, the German Head Scientist. He began cocking an MP5.
“Whoa, hold on a minute” Tom said backing away, “NOOOOO!!!” he screamed under a hail of bullets. The barrage ceased but Tom was still standing.
“Excellent. The epidermal strengthening vas successful!” Weisenfield exclaimed, “It vould appear you are now impervious to bullets.”
“Impervious?” Tom replied, “Yeah, I like the sound of that, I think I’ll call myself IMPERVIOUS!!!!”
“Okay… Get over yourself boy” teased Weisenfield, “Now to test your strength enhancements...” he motioned to a large metal pillar.
“Here goes, HHHAAARRRGGHHH…… Huh…” Tom expected a struggle but lifted it with relative ease.
“Now you must complete some basic combat training,” Weisenfield barked, hurrying to a booth, as he closed the door four large thuggish men entered the room.
“Now you’re talking Doc,” Tom said, smirking at the prospect of finally being able to beat down on ‘tough guys’. He darted straight at his closest target; ‘WHACK’ Tom delivered him a powerful uppercut sending him flying into the air.
“Awesome,” Tom chuckled, ducking the swing of a baseball bat aimed at his face, ‘SSMMAACCKK’ the bat clocked Tom right in the back of the head, “Naughty boy. You could hurt somebody,” Tom joked as he was completely unfazed. Tom then sent him crashing into another of the attackers with a strong backhand. “You will fear me!” Tom thundered, “I am more than you!!!” as he aimed a well-placed kick to a large piece of rubble causing it to sail into the air & land on top of the last man.
‘Clap clap clap’ Weisenfield applauded as he left his protective room, “Phenomenal,” he squealed with glee, obviously delighted at the results of his experiment. “Now, Mr. Impervious, you have vork to do, go now, rob the bank he has requested.”

‘Impervious’ Issue 4 – ‘Guilt’.
‘Origin of Impervious’ part 4 of 4.

“NOBODY MOVE!!!! The name’s Impervious & I’m taking the money.” Tom called out. Everyone in the bank hit the floor.
‘How did I get powers but still end up robbing?’ he thought to himself.
He moved towards the vault door, “Here goes nothing...” he whispered to himself.
He raised both fists & slammed them down on the door. ‘BOOOOOM’ The building began to shake. The foundations were unable to cope with the force he had placed on them. Chunks of the ceiling began to fall.
“NOOOOO!!” He cried as a large block of granite fell, one heading straight for a small boy who was cowering beside a desk. He set off to try to save the boy, praying that he wouldn’t be responsible for killing a child. Closer & closer the boulder fell until it was inches from Tom’s fingertips but only millimeters from the boy.
Tom stretched… Too late… Tom got there too late. He began tossing aside the rubble that covered the boy, tears streaming down his face, until he was able to pull him to safety, he hoped he would be safe anyway. Hearing the wail of an ambulance’s sirens, he placed the boy on the side-walk outside the bank & fled.
Tom watched from an alleyway as 2 paramedics attended to the boy, longing for him to be alright. “Make it kid… Please make it...” he repeated over & over.

2 hours later beside the boy’s hospital bed…

“Sorry, kid,” Tom sobbed, “I never meant for anybody to get hurt… Please wake up… I swear I’ll do anything to make this better.”
The TV crackled, “Reports are in of a dramatic incident involving unknown super-humans, eye-witness accounts claim the Ultimate Marvels were on scene to prevent any loss of life & to protect innocent bystanders.”
“That is what I should be doing,” Tom said, “From this moment on I will use my powers not for myself but for those that need me most!”

‘Impervious’ Issue 5 – ‘The Other Side of the Coin’
‘Best of Friends/Worst of Enemies’ part 1

9 months ago, the day of the robbery…

“Just wait here, Daz.” Tom said stepping out of the car, “I’ll be back in five minutes with the money for the boss and a small bonus for us.”
Beads of sweat formed on Darren’s forehead as he watched Tom burst into the shop to begin the usual routine, he gripped the steering wheel tighter, ‘Get in… get out… drive…’ he thought to himself.
He glanced in his rear-view mirror, but what he saw gave him a shock. A red silhouette flew threw the air and set down at the end of the street, it was joined by two more figures.
“What the hell is that…? Were they flying? I’m not waiting around to find out!” Darren muttered under his breath. He slammed his foot down onto the accelerator, causing the car to race away from the scene.
Screeching to a halt, outside the flat he shared with Tom, he dashed inside, threw an open suitcase onto his bed, and began cramming his clothes inside.
“I’ve gotta get away from this…” Darren muttered to himself, “I’m in so far over my head.”

9 months later, 3 days after Impervious stopped working for the boss…

‘CRASH’ as a large man barged into a derelict, supposedly abandoned building, quickly followed by a smaller man dressed in a sharp pinstripe suit.
“Darren Williams, we know you are in here.” Called the smartly dressed gentleman, “My name is Charlie Quinn, and I have a proposal for you from the boss.”
“You can tell him I’m not interested!” came the reply, as Darren crawled out of his hiding place.
Quinn drew a taser from inside his jacket, “I’m afraid you don’t have a say in the matter…” and shot two electrified prongs into Darren’s right shouldered, sending his body crashing to the floor and his mind into darkness.

‘Impervious’ Issue 6 – ‘Lab Rat’.
‘Best of Friends/Worst of Enemies’ part 2.

Weisenfield’s Lab, after a 4 hour operation…

“He is vaking up, sir.” The Doctor spoke softly into his cell, “Ze neural controlling devices are in place and are all registering.”
“Excellent,” The voice answered back, “put the plan into operation.”

A small hospital room, the other side of town…

“…And then I stopped a little old lady from being mugged.” Tom spoke to the comatose child, not knowing whether he was being heard or not, not really caring “When are you gonna wake up? Please wake…”
“Breaking news: the UN summit being held to discuss climate change has been stormed by a super-powered terrorist and are now being held hostage,” The TV cuts across Tom, “I can now confirm that the hostage taker has made but one demand. No… that can’t be right. He is demanding that Impervious attempts the rescue. Who is this character and will he even show up?”
“What? Nobody even knows about me except… the boss!”

Some time later…

“This is Tony Newman reporting from outside the scene of the dramatic UN hostage crisis! There is no sign of the mysterious Impervious the hostage taker demanded… Hold the phone! There seems to be some commotion at the police cordon… mn… okay… Yes…! I have just been told that this Impervious has arrived and is… well, he’s just… just some kid!!”Tom strode past the line of policemen, cheered on by the amassed crowds until he stopped just in front of the large revolving doors. Then, after taking one long, deep breath for courage, he stepped through.
“Welcome to the party, Tom.” spoke the hooded figure, his face shrouded in darkness.
“Wh… what…? Darren!?!”
